Kier subcontracting £84M works on A417 scheme including earthworks, drainage, pavements

The £500M scheme for National Highways will dual a 5.5km section of road between Gloucester and Swindon, improving the connection between the two dual carriageway sections of the A417 at Brockley and Cowley and the connection between the M4 and M5.

Work on the project is ramping up this year with “offline” works expected to account for much of the construction during 2024.

Main contractor Kier Transportation, which won the £460M contract in April 2022, has published 15 contract notices for sub-contractors to join the project.

The most lucrative contract is for £35M worth of earthworks. There is also an £18M opportunity for drainage works and a £15M pavement works contract up for tender.

All 15 contracts are detailed below in order of value.
