Just one week left to enter TechFest Awards

With the deadline fast approaching, would-be award winners have until Friday 5 August to put their innovations forward for a gong. (Click here, to enter.)

TechFest is a full-day conference followed by an evening of awards to create a springboard for the latest construction and infrastructure industry innovations.

There are 15 award categories to enter this year. Recognising the sector’s need to help achieve the UK’s net zero target, categories include Built Environment Champion and Natural Environment Champion.

Other award categories include Technology Provider Trailblazer, Transport Infrastructure Champion as well as the much-anticipated Innovation Incubator award which recognises start-ups or SMEs that are driving change and innovation through development of new technology for use in the construction and civil engineering industry or on the projects the sector delivers. Entries are free and you can enter several innovations in one category or enter as many categories as you see fit, having reviewed the specific category criteria.

NCE head of content and engagement Rob Horgan said: “TechFest is a fantastic opportunity for the sector to come together and celebrate true innovations which are making a real difference.

“Construction has long been criticised for being behind other industries in reacting to new ideas and innovating.

“The TechFest Awards is the opportunity to shine a light on the positive steps the construction industry is taking to change that perception by adopting new technologies and using innovative materials.”

He added: “I’m particularly excited to see the entries for the Built Environment Champion and Natural Environment Champion given the urgent need for our industry to drive towards net zero carbon emissions.”

Last year’s winners included an hourglass footbridge, kit-of-parts office and satellite dam monitoring system.
